Florida questions
Eligibility
Do I qualify to clear my record in Florida?
Florida's court-ordered options usually cover a record that was never adjudicated guilty. Your history matters too. You need no open case, no disqualifying conviction, and no unpaid court-ordered amounts. The check walks you through the same questions the application asks. It takes a few minutes.
Can I seal or expunge more than one record?
Generally no. FDLE's rule: one arrest record, in one proceeding. Florida law also generally allows one court-ordered expunction in a lifetime. A record sealed for 10 years can later be expunged — that is the one common second step.
Pricing
What does it cost?
You pay one flat Expeal fee for the document preparation. You also pay the government fees Florida charges every applicant. The pricing page shows every figure with its source — including your own county's filing fee.
Who do the government fees go to?
FDLE charges a processing fee for the certificate of eligibility. Your county clerk charges a service charge set by statute when you file. Neither fee is Expeal's. Both apply whether or not you use Expeal.
Timeline
How long does the FDLE certificate take?
FDLE says processing usually takes 12 weeks. The clock starts when your completed application packet arrives. The court's own calendar adds time after you file the petition.
Can anything speed FDLE up?
No. FDLE handles applications in the order they arrive, and it will not speed one up. A complete, correct packet is the one thing that avoids added weeks.
Process
What does Expeal actually do?
We prepare the documents. In the application's own words: we'll create all the necessary documents and send them to you, and you'll handle the filing yourself. We do not give legal advice. We do not represent you in court.
Where do I file the petition?
With the clerk of court in the county where your case was handled. Our county list has every Florida clerk's address, phone, and filing fee.
Privacy & Security
Do you store my answers?
No. The check runs entirely in your browser. We do not receive or store your answers. Your result lives only in the page address, so you can bookmark or print it.
Do you use cookies or trackers?
No cookies, no trackers, nothing stored — on any page of this site. Our privacy policy describes exactly what our hosting provider logs and for how long.
Account
Do I need an account to check eligibility?
No. The check on this site needs no account and stores nothing. You only need an account in the application, where your documents are prepared.
How do I sign in to the application?
The application uses passwordless sign-in. You enter your email address and receive a one-time code. There is no password to create or remember.
