You can clear your Ohio record. Ohio law lets you seal certain arrest records and certain convictions under ORC § 2953.32, and lets you expunge certain marijuana offenses under ORC § 2953.321 and certain other convictions under ORC § 2953.32. The process uses a petition filed with the court of common pleas that handled the case and may involve a court hearing.

Ohio expanded eligibility in 2023, so people who couldn't seal or expunge records before may qualify now — many of them haven't yet filed.

Ohio caps felony sealing at two third-degree felony incidents per lifetime, so the petition you file has to account for the whole picture if you've had more than one conviction.

Ohio offers expungement (full removal of the record), not just sealing (hidden from most public view), for certain convictions — but the expungement path takes substantially longer than sealing.
