You can clear your Texas record. Texas law has two remedies. An order of nondisclosure seals certain records from public view, under Texas Government Code §§ 411.071 to 411.0775. An expunction destroys the records of certain arrests, under Chapter 55A of the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure. This guide walks you through nondisclosure. The two remedies work differently. A nondisclosure order hides a record from the public, but the record still exists: courts, police and some licensing boards can still see it. An expunction removes the records of the arrest for good. Each remedy has its own rules for who qualifies.
